A fresh report out of Europe suggests that Opel will give the 2018 iteration of the Geneva International Motor Show a miss as it seeks to continue cutting costs.
According to Automotive News Europe, the German marque (and its Vauxhall sister brand) will not make an appearance at the show in March after coming “under pressure” from new parent company, the PSA Group, to save money.
As the report points out, Opel has no major vehicle launches planned for 2018, with the next-generation Corsa due to hit the market only in 2019.
“If there is no new product, then the brands won’t be there,” a PSA Group spokesperson told Automotive News Europe.
Interestingly, the DS brand – which also falls under the PSA Group banner – will not be in attendance either. Peugeot and Citroën, however, will both have a presence at the show.
