The fastest car in the world will soon be available to Australian buyers, as Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg announces their very first dealership down under.

The motoring company - otherwise known as the masterminds behind the highly coveted, 457km/h Agera RS - revealed that they'll be cutting the tape on their full-service Australian dealership this June.

And while the fine-grain details are still scarce, Koenigsegg has hinted that the outlet will be based in Melbourne, Nine News reports.

'Koenigsegg's arrival in Australia and New Zealand is long overdue,' the manufacturer declared.

'The company believes that the Oceania market... will fall in love with the exceptional engineering, outstanding craftsmanship and world-class innovation that's built in to every vehicle it delivers.'

The Agera RS is just one of those vehicles, but it happens to be the most popular.

And with good reason: the sleek, stylish supercar carries a $2.5 million price tag and boasts the title of being the fastest car currently in production.

Koenigsegg says interest is strong among Australian buyers, with 'deposits already being taken for the as-yet unnamed Agera RS replacement' that is still to be unveiled.

'With the formal launch of Koenigsegg down-under in June 2018, we expect interest to gain rapid traction ahead of that car's debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show,' said the manufacturer.
