THREE THINGS TO WATCH

1. Redshirt junior quarterback Andrew Ford has thrown for 3,869 yards in 15 career games, good for No. 7 in UMass history. Next on the list is legendary Peil Pennington, who had 4,687 passing yards from 1971-73.

2. Sophomore Isaiah Rodgers has 942 kick return yards and ranks 10th in school history. Rodgers needs 18 more yards to become the eighth player with 1,000 kick return yards and 28 to pass Jesse Julmiste (2009-11) for the seventh spot.

3. In a quirky happenstance, both schools won a football national championship in 1998. Tennessee defeated Florida State for the BCS title while UMass, during Mark Whipple’s inaugural season, beat Georgia Southern for the FCS (formerly Div. 1-AA) crown.
